5. Train Your Team

Most breaches start with a person, not a piece of hardware — typically a phishing email or a reused password. Short, regular security awareness training measurably reduces successful phishing attempts.

6. Retire Hardware Securely

When laptops, desktops or servers reach end of life, ensure storage drives are properly wiped or destroyed before disposal or resale. This protects your business data even after the hardware itself is gone.
